Moving Tips - Planning for your move.
- Be sure to schedule your moving date well in advance of your move. First of the month, end of the
month and weekends book up first.
- Get packing supplies prior to your move to insure that you are completely
prepared for your move. Being organized will save you time and money on your move.
- Pack at least one box with bathroom and kitchen essentials and carry it with you to your new
location so that it may be readily accessible.
- Make sure all loose items are packed before the move date arrives. If you do
not want to pack these items yourself, hire professionals to pack them for you.
Having loose items on tables, shelves, etc, when the move date arrives, will
only make your move take longer and cost you more.
- Pack heavy items in small boxes and lighter items in larger boxes for easier handling.
- You can leave clothing in dressers.
- Be sure to close and seal all your packed boxes.
- If possible, make sure any renovations to your new location are done before
you move in. It is a lot easier to paint or install new carpet while a residence is
unoccupied. If you aren't getting new carpet, make sure it has
been cleaned before you move in.
- If you are scheduling your move at an hourly rate, you do not have to schedule your move at the lowest available rate to save money on your move. A lower hourly rate only means that it will take longer to complete than if you requested a larger crew. You should select the lowest rate when you know that the job can be completed in less than two hours.
